Background
The National Park Service (NPS), Department of Interior (DOI), Denver Service Center (DSC), is soliciting proposals on a full and open basis from all interested businesses having the capability to perform the work described. The project involves rehabilitating canal Lift Locks 1 and 2 in Georgetown and the river, as well as the Inlet Lock 1 complex, which includes canal Lift Lock 5. The project also includes reconstructing several historic stone masonry retaining walls on Level 4 of the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal located in Georgetown (Washington, D.C.).

Work Details
This project will rehabilitate canal Lift Locks 1 and 2 in Georgetown and the river, as well as the Inlet Lock 1 complex, which includes canal Lift Lock 5. Rehabilitation work will address critical elements such as replacing lock gates, timber sills, and associated hardware. Necessary masonry repairs will be accomplished to stabilize the structures, including repointing work to regain water tightness.

The project will also reconstruct several historic stone masonry retaining walls on Level 4 of the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal located in Georgetown (Washington, D.C.). The project will require temporary scaffolding and temporary support of excavation walls to execute the reconstruction. The canal prism will be de-watered for the duration of the project to facilitate site access.
