Yearns Dam Spillway Improvements   2

Background
The Yearns Dam Spillway Improvements project is issued by the USDA Forest Service, specifically the Intermountain Region. The mission of this project is to reconstruct portions of the Yearns Dam Spillway to enhance its structural integrity and functionality. The goal is to ensure safe water management and environmental protection in the Manti-La Sal National Forest, located in Sanpete County, Utah.

Work Details
The scope of work includes reconstructing portions of the Yearns Dam Spillway, which involves several key tasks:

1. Constructing contract items in accordance with design plans;
2. Performing earth work to add embankment fill and road base to the top of the dam;
3. Placing riprap on the water side of the dam;
4. Reconstructing the concrete weir spillway;
5. Reconstructing the spillway channel, including both riprap and grouted riprap.

Dewatering may be necessary for completion, particularly during lower water levels from September to November. Additional site conditions include public access restrictions during construction, requirements for stream and lake protection plans, pressure washing of equipment before entering National Forest lands to prevent noxious weed transportation, and dust abatement measures to minimize windblown dust.

Period of Performance
The contract performance period is set for 45 calendar days, beginning in Fall 2024.

Place of Performance
The construction projects will be performed at Yearns Dam located approximately 6.5 miles Southeast of Manti, Utah, within the Manti-La Sal National Forest.
