Construction Project 544-22-142: Contractor shall completely prepare site for building operations, including demolition and removal of existing structures, and furnish labor and materials and perform work to replace the existing site sanitary sewer infrastructure and grease traps with a new system designed to meet the current VA standards and reduce service interruptions, accommodate future construction, and rectify existing sanitary sewer problems on the Columbia VAMC campus, as required by drawings and specifications. Site work will be performed throughout the entire campus. Interior work will be performed buildings 100 and 100A.

Background
The Department of Veterans Affairs, Columbia VA Health Care System (VAHCS) Medical Center is a 216-bed facility located in Columbia, South Carolina. It provides primary, secondary, and some tertiary care.

The goal of this contract is to replace the existing site sanitary sewer infrastructure and grease traps on the Columbia VAMC campus with a new system that meets current VA standards, reduces service interruptions, accommodates future construction, and rectifies existing sanitary sewer problems.

Work Details
The contractor shall prepare the site for building operations, which includes demolition and removal of existing structures. The work involves replacing the existing sanitary sewer infrastructure and grease traps with a new system designed to meet current VA standards.

Site work will be performed throughout the entire campus, with interior work specifically in buildings 100 and 100A. The contractor is responsible for all labor, tools, equipment, personnel, supervision, materials, supplies, management, logistics, and transportation necessary to complete the project as described in the drawings and specifications.

The project includes several deductive alternates that can reduce the scope of work and period of performance by eliminating certain tasks such as moving manhole placements or removing specific sewer line replacements.

Period of Performance
The period of performance for this contract is 546 calendar days from Notice to Proceed (NTP). If deductive alternates are utilized by the contractor, the total period of performance may be reduced to 456 days.
