Background
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is issuing this solicitation for the construction of a minor parking garage expansion at the Gainesville Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC). The goal of this contract is to expand the existing Vertical Parking Garage #2, also known as Independence Garage, to enhance parking capacity for veterans and improve access to VA services.

This project aligns with the VA's mission to provide high-quality care and support to veterans.

Work Details
The contract involves the following construction tasks:
1. General construction work for the vertical expansion of the existing parking garage, including the addition of third, fourth, and fifth levels.
2. Installation of pedestrian control grilles on all levels of the garage as specified in the drawings.
3. Construction of elevated driveways connecting Garage 2 and Garage 1 from the third level up to the fifth level.
4. Necessary alterations, paving, grading, structural work, mechanical work, architectural work, civil/site work, utility work, and electrical work as required for completion.
5. Removal of existing structures as necessary for the expansion.

Period of Performance
The period of performance for this contract is expected to be up to 365 days for the base bid item. Alternate No. 1 has a completion time of 300 days, while Alternate No. 2 has a completion time of 280 days.

Place of Performance
The construction projects will be performed at the Gainesville Veterans Affairs Medical Center located in Gainesville, Florida.
