SPS Relocation and Renovation Minor #689-408 - West Haven   3

Background
The VA Medical Center Surgical Department at the VA Connecticut Healthcare System; West Haven currently lacks a dependable Sterile Processing Service (SPS). The existing space is outdated, and the existing HVAC system is undersized, not designed to current standards, and failing along with other building systems that service the space. The VA Medical Center West Haven plans to relocate the Sterile Processing Service (SPS) space from the existing space on the Sub-Ground Floor of Building 1. The existing location of the Sterile Processing Service is problematic as it is directly located above large sub-grade confined spaces with failing and leaking steam systems that contribute to high temperature and high humidity in the sterile processing space. Other remedial efforts include temporary SPS trailers, on site RME/Sterile Storage safe areas, New Cart Wash equipment, Sterilizers, and an Existing SPS Workload Capacity Study. VAMC West Haven is seeking full construction services, and Activation support to relocate the SPS to a new space that will integrate the most current VA Standards for SPS, Space & Arrangement, Building Systems, Equipment, and Technology.

Work Details
The scope of this project includes but is not limited to general construction, alterations, mechanical and electrical work, utility systems, necessary demolition, and removal of existing structures, associated appurtenances and certain other items necessary to project completion. The space will include administrative, Scopes cleaning, Soiled and sterile work rooms & support areas.

All work shall be performed according to solicitation, contract specifications and drawings, and all applicable VA and local codes. Contractor shall furnish all supervision, tools, labor, materials, equipment, transportation and testing necessary.
