Background
The Northport VA Medical Center is issuing this construction contract to address deficiencies in the potable and fire suppression water systems. The goal of the contract is to replace several fire hydrants and associated infrastructure to enhance fire safety on campus.

Work Details
The contractor shall provide all supervision, labor, materials (except VA-furnished pipe), equipment, tools, testing, and incidentals required for the following tasks:

1. Replace five dry-barrel fire hydrants at specified locations (FH11, FH22, FH27, FH36, FH42) with new Muller SUPER CENTURION FIRE HYDRANTS.

2. Relocate one hydrant (FH18) approximately 1 foot away from the curb and install three bollards for traffic protection.

3. Replace three fire gate valves (FV30, FV84, FV83) in-kind or better.

4. Replace two post-indicator valves (PIV12 and PIV13) with Kennedy Valve or VA-approved equivalents.

5. Install approximately 280 linear feet of 8-inch ductile iron underground fire suppression piping connecting building 40 to the new FH27 location.

6. Perform excavation work to access existing utilities and replace piping as needed while adhering to OSHA standards. The contractor must also restore all disturbed areas to original or better condition and ensure compliance with EPA and other regulatory standards.

The contract will be performed over a specified timeframe that includes all phases of construction from initial excavation through final restoration.
