Background
The contract is for the renovation of 18 stairwells at the Jackson VA Medical Center. The stairwells are in worn shape and need to be updated. The VA is requiring the renovation of all stairwells.

Work Details
The contractor shall provide all labor, materials, supplies, parts, and equipment to renovate the stairwells. This includes project management, scheduling work with facilities management to minimize impact on the facility, installation of all components and materials, having a valid hot work permit for welding and cutting, providing a full and functional fire extinguisher at the work area, cleaning the work area before leaving the premises, and providing a point of contact for the administration of the purchase order.

The contractor must be certified and licensed to perform the necessary work and should adhere to existing relevant, accredited standards and codes to minimize the possibility of injury to personnel or damage to government equipment. Additionally, the contractor must provide workers compensation, professional liability insurance, health examinations, income tax withholding, and Social Security payments for their personnel working on this purchase order. The contractor should also provide education/training certifications/documentation for their foreman and personnel. The awarded contractor should be aware that only the contracting officer has the authority to make changes affecting the contract in terms of quality, quantity, price or delivery.
