Background
The James J. Peters Veterans Affairs Medical Center, located in Bronx, New York, is seeking to renovate its Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) Suite to enhance compliance with the Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA) guidelines, Spinal Cord Injury/Disorder (SCI/D) requirements, and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards.

This project aims to modify and upgrade the existing facilities to ensure they meet current accessibility and usability standards for patients.

Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for general construction tasks including:
1. Modifying 24 patient bathroom doors in the 1E-Wing to be automatic, low-energy, power-operated doors compliant with PVA, SCI/D, and ADA standards.
2. Installing 12 toilet bump-outs in designated patient bathrooms to meet accessibility clearances.
3. Lowering and modifying 11 patient vanity sinks by 6 inches in select bathrooms as per design specifications.
4. Renovating existing Activities for Daily Living (ADL) space to include a bedroom that meets the functional needs of SCI/D patients.
5. Converting Shower Room 1E-124B into a fully functional bathroom with toilet facilities, ensuring plumbing work is performed by certified master plumbers.
6. All work must adhere strictly to the architectural drawings and specifications provided by West Point Engineers and follow all applicable safety protocols including FDNY fire safety standards.

Period of Performance
The contract will be performed over a period of 330 calendar days from the issuance of the Notice to Proceed (NTP).

Place of Performance
The work will take place at the Main Building (Building 100), Wing 1E of the James J. Peters Veterans Affairs Medical Center located at 130 West Kingsbridge Road, Bronx, New York 10468.
