Background
The National Park Service (NPS), Denver Service Center (DSC), is soliciting proposals from all interested businesses having the capability to perform the work described below. The project aims to rehabilitate the Tuolumne Meadows Campground, which was built between 1931-34 by the CCC to meet growing recreational needs. The campground is operated seasonally between May and October, and sits at an elevation of 8,600 feet, with a limited construction season of 5-6 months per year. The project will enhance visitor experience by rehabilitating campground roads, making accessibility improvements throughout the entire campground, and enhancing amenities at each campsite. It also includes removal and repurposing of a stream side road, restoration of natural conditions along the river's edge, upgrading of restrooms to meet ABAAS standards, replacement of the entire water system in the campground, and electrical upgrades at the check-in kiosk.

Work Details
The project will rehabilitate the Tuolumne Meadows Campground which includes 304 drive-in campsites, horse camp, backpacker’s camp and a group camp. It involves rehabilitating campground roads, making accessibility improvements throughout the entire campground, enhancing amenities at each campsite including a hardened parking pad, new picnic tables, fire rings, and food storage containers for bear protection. A stream side road (Loop A) will be removed along with 20+ campsites. The existing road will be demolished and repurposed as a trail. A new loop road will be added to accommodate relocated campsites as a result of the loss of Loop A. Riprap will be removed along a portion of the river’s edge and a natural condition restored. The Dana Campfire Circle will be upgraded with an accessible route (trail type construction) and accessible seating/companion seating. The existing historic restrooms will be upgraded to meet ABAAS standards with updated fixtures and roof repair where necessary. Two additional restrooms will be added where there are gaps in service. The entire water system in the campground will be replaced to optimize efficiency and create a looped system. In addition, work includes new water service to the existing restrooms and the two new restrooms. Portions of the sanitary sewer system that were not replaced as part of the 1995 sewer improvement project will be replaced in this project.

The estimated period of performance for this project is 675 calendar days including any potential weather shutdown.
