Roof Replacement - MD

Background
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, located in Cambridge, MD, is seeking proposals for roof replacement services at the Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge (NWR). The goal of this contract is to replace an existing shingled roof with a new standing seam metal roof that meets FEMA specifications for hurricane wind resistance. This project is part of the agency's mission to maintain and enhance wildlife habitats while ensuring the safety and integrity of their facilities.

Work Details
The scope of work includes:

1. Roof Removal and Inspection:
- Remove all existing shingles and underlayment, disposing of refuse offsite at the contractor's expense.
- Inspect subsurface for integrity; replace any deteriorated or unsuitable material (up to 20 sheets) prior to adding FEMA-approved subsurface.

2. Installation of Standing Seam Metal Roof:
- Install a 24-gauge standing seam metal roof designed to withstand 150 mph hurricane winds per FEMA specifications.
- Ensure proper alignment and fastening according to manufacturer recommendations and industry standards.
- The roof panels must be interlocking with a concealed structural fastening system to prevent through fastener penetration into structural supports.

Period of Performance
The anticipated period of performance for this contract is from April 7, 2025, to September 5, 2025.

Place of Performance
The construction projects will be performed at Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge, located at 2145 Key Wallace Drive, Cambridge, MD 21613.
