Background
The National Park Service (NPS), part of the Department of Interior (DOI), is soliciting proposals for the rehabilitation of the Painted Desert Community Complex, a National Historic Landmark located within Petrified Forest National Park in Arizona. The goal of this contract is to address maintenance and repair work, correct structural deficiencies, and restore historic features while ensuring compliance with current codes and accessibility standards.

Work Details
The project involves several key tasks:
1. Rehabilitation of buildings within the Painted Desert Community Complex to correct ongoing structural deficiencies and code violations.
2. Stabilization of building and site wall foundations to address long-term movement.
3. Repairing select building envelopes and restoring areas to match original historic designs.
4. Renovation of select interior spaces to meet current needs while prioritizing the restoration of specific historic design elements.
5. Replacement and upgrading of critical building and utility systems, including electrical and mechanical systems that have exceeded their lifecycle.
6. Updating public restrooms to enhance visitor experience, promote water conservation, and facilitate cleaning.
7. Installation of additional photovoltaic panels for renewable energy harnessing and facility sustainability.
8. All work must adhere to the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation of Historic Buildings.
