Background
The National Park Service (NPS), Department of Interior (DOI), Denver Service Center (DSC), is soliciting proposals on a full and open basis from all interested businesses having the capability to perform the work described below. The purpose of this project is to restore and rehabilitate the First Bank of the United States, which consists of three primary components: restoration and rehabilitation of the interior, restoration of the exterior including roofing and masonry, and construction of an addition containing a stair tower, elevator, and entrance lobby. The estimated price range for this project is more than $10,000,000, with an estimated period of performance from March 2023 to October 2024.

Work Details
The project consists of three primary components. The first component is the restoration and rehabilitation of the interior of the existing bank building. This includes restoration of historic brick masonry vaults, plaster walls and ceilings, wood trim, painted and transparent finishes, leaded glass, modification of historic guard rails and railings, installation of fire-rated glazed partitions, new restrooms, break rooms and offices, mechanical and electrical upgrades.

The second primary component is the restoration of the exterior including roofing and masonry. Masonry work includes restoration of brick and limestone masonry, reinforcing of brick chimneys, cleaning and conservation of original Pennsylvania Blue marble on the historic east facade. Roofing work includes repair and partial replacement of existing standing-seam copper roof, gutters and flashings.

The third primary component is the construction of an addition containing a stair tower, elevator and entrance lobby. The new addition will consist of glazed curtain wall and brick veneer wall construction with cast stone trim over a concrete foundation.
