Work Details
The project is located at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, Hawaii. The surrounding area is somewhat rural with limited staging.

The NPS anticipates unique material delivery requirements. The construction site is approximately 30 miles from nearest suppliers and lodging facilities. The Park will remain open during construction, thus contract activities and logistics must be structured and scheduled to minimize visitor impact. The site requires protective measures to ensure the surrounding area remains undisturbed. The KVC is a historic resource that requires protective measures during the rehabilitation process. Additionally, there are natural resource concerns, particularly invasive species.

Specific protocols associated with cleaning equipment and inspections will be in place to mitigate the potential introduction of invasive species into the park. There are seasonal/other shutdowns mandated through the construction season. Winter construction may be required.
