GRCA 190083 - Improve Potable Water Supply to Innercanyon and South Rim, Transcanyon Water Distribution Pipeline, Grand Canyon National Park
Background
The National Park Service (NPS), Department of Interior (DOI), Denver Service Center (DSC), is soliciting proposals on a full and open basis with the intent to award a design-bid-build, firm fixed priced contract. The project aims to rehabilitate the primary water system that provides service to the south rim and inner canyon of the Grand Canyon National Park. The work includes various construction tasks such as new surface water intake, pump station, creek stabilization, surface water treatment plant, open cut replacement of water distribution and power system, replacement of water main, power and fiber micro-duct between Havasupai Gardens, rehabilitation of pump station, installation of point of use disinfection systems (UV) at upper northern inner canyon at cottonwood and manzanita districts. The project is located at Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona.

Work Details
The work includes various construction tasks such as new surface water intake, pump station, creek stabilization, surface water treatment plant, open cut replacement of water distribution and power system, replacement of water main, power and fiber micro-duct between Havasupai Gardens, rehabilitation of pump station, installation of point of use disinfection systems (UV) at upper northern inner canyon at cottonwood and manzanita districts.
Limitations on closures and construction areas are specified in the contract documents to minimize impacts to visitor, employee and concessions operations throughout the duration of the project. Coordination with permitting authority ADEQ (Arizona Department of Environmental Quality), power company APS (Arizona Power Service), and NPS heliport operations will be critical to success implementing the scope of this project.
The anticipated period of performance is 915 calendar days including any potential weather shutdown. Winter and summer construction may be required. Contractor housing is limited at the park and the surrounding area.
