Alcova-Boysen Thermopolis-Worland Tap OPGW project work include installation of 121-miles of optical overhead ground wire (OPGW) on existing 115-kV transmission lines; removing 121 miles of steel overhead ground wire, installation of steel angle bedrails, and anti-split pole bands to existing wood pole suspension structures, installation of underground fiber optic cable, splice boxes and associated fiber equipment, installation of spiral dampers, and performing fiber splicing and testing.

Background
The Alcova-Boysen Thermopolis-Worland Tap OPGW project is issued by the Western Area Power Administration (WAPA), part of the U.S. Department of Energy. The mission of WAPA is to market and deliver reliable, cost-based hydroelectric power and related services. The goal of this contract is to install optical overhead ground wire (OPGW) on existing transmission lines to enhance communication and operational capabilities.

Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for the following tasks:

- Installation of 121 miles of optical overhead ground wire (OPGW) on existing 115-kV transmission lines.
- Removal of 121 miles of steel overhead ground wire.
- Installation of steel angle bedrails and anti-split pole bands on existing wood pole suspension structures.
- Installation of underground fiber optic cable, splice boxes, and associated fiber equipment.
- Installation of spiral dampers.
- Performing fiber splicing and testing.

The work will also include furnishing and installing vibration dampers for overhead ground wires, as well as ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.

Period of Performance
The contractor shall begin performance within 10 calendar days after receiving the notice to proceed and complete all work within 730 calendar days thereafter.

Place of Performance
The construction projects will be performed along the route from Alcova to Boysen, Thermopolis, and Worland in Wyoming.
