Background
The Modoc National Forest is seeking to purchase 375 tons (750,000 lbs.) of 6 string rectangle bales of Grass Hay and 375 tons (750,000 lbs.) of 6 string rectangle bales of Alfalfa, totaling 750 tons (1,500,000 lbs). The hay will be used as feed for wild horses at the Double Devil Wild Horse Corrals in Alturas, CA. The period of performance for the contract is from June 1, 2024, to June 30, 2025.

Work Details
The products to be delivered include specific quantities of Grass Hay and Alfalfa. The Grass Hay should be Meadow, Blue, Timothy, Orchard, Brome, or alfalfa varieties and must be well-cured and free from dust, mold, foreign material, thistle or Prickly herb, 'cheat' grass, foxtails, corn stalk, bearded grain, and other awns or any other weed or grass not considered healthy forage for horses.
The Alfalfa should also meet similar quality standards. The approximate size of the bales should be 4 ft. W x 4 ft. H x 8 ft. L for the Grass Hay and approximately 18 in. W x 18 in. H x 36 in. L for the Alfalfa.
The bales should not be round and must be uniform in length with no loose twine or broken bales accepted.
