Background
The Bureau of Reclamation is issuing this contract for the procurement of specific operating mechanisms as part of their mission to manage water resources and provide reliable power generation.

The goal of this contract is to acquire Hitachi Energy (ABB) HMB-8.3 Operating Mechanisms for use in circuit breakers at the Grand Coulee Power Office, ensuring operational efficiency and reliability in power distribution.

Work Details
The contract involves the delivery of two (2) new Hitachi Energy (ABB) HMB-8.3 Operating Mechanisms, specifically designed for ABB 550PM SF6 Power Circuit Breakers located at the 500kV Switchyard, Grand Coulee Power Office (GCPO), Grand Coulee, WA.

The salient characteristics of the mechanisms include:
- Compact, hydraulically-operated design with an energy storage system comprised of compressible disc springs.
- Hydraulic pump that compresses oil to drive three accumulator pistons.
- Mechanical motion translation from electrical control signals via pilot valves.
- Capability to perform two OPEN operations without re-charging due to energy storage capacity.
- Factory-set velocity for OPEN and CLOSE operations tailored for breaker application.
- External position indicator for detecting breaker position.
