Background
The San Diego VA Health Care Center (SDVAHCS), part of the Department of Veterans Affairs, is responsible for providing healthcare services to veterans. The agency aims to ensure that veterans have access to necessary transportation services for medical appointments.

This contract is a short-term sole-source bridge contract intended to replace an existing contract and ensure continuity of non-emergency wheelchair and hired car transportation services for veterans in the San Diego area and surrounding counties.

Work Details
The contractor will provide non-emergency wheelchair and hired car transportation services, including ad hoc medical companion services, to veteran patients residing in San Diego, Riverside, Imperial, Orange, and Los Angeles counties. Services will be available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including weekends and holidays.

Specific tasks include:
- Transporting veterans between their homes and SDVAHCS facilities for medical appointments;
- Providing pre- and post-ambulatory procedure supervision for veterans without social support;
- Ensuring that transportation services are uninterrupted to prevent any negative impact on veteran health and safety.
