Background
The U.S. Air Force is seeking to acquire a new Water Jet Machine for Ellsworth Air Force Base, SD. This requirement is part of the mission to enhance operational capabilities at the base. Work Details
The contractor will provide and install a new cantilever-style X-Y-Z Axis Water Jet Machining Center with the following salient characteristics:
- Power requirement: 110V to 440-480VAC, 3 phase, 60 Hz
- Controller must operate on WIN10 64 Bit OS; previous versions are not acceptable due to DoD security directives.
- Minimum X-Y cutting envelope of 100" x 55"
- Programmable Motorized Z-Axis with minimum Z axis travel of 8"
- Minimum linear positional accuracy of +/- 0.0010" over the entire work envelope
- Minimum repeatability of +/- 0.0010" over the entire work envelope
- Minimum travel speed of 180 in/min
- Minimum 30 hp direct drive pump system
- Minimum 60,000 PSI pump capable of supplying a 0.012" nozzle with 0.67 GPM under full load
- Rapid water level control with minimum 3" adjustment for quiet/clean submerged cutting (below 80 dBA)
- Minimum 600lb Bulk Abrasive Delivery System for garnet transport
- Rigid scissor-style hard plumbing; no WIPs allowed
- Programmable solids removal system for efficient abrasive evacuation from the catcher tank
- Laser locating device for visual reference of cutting start points
- Compact video camera for precise material feature location with integrated software interface
- Ethernet capability included
- Initial provision of 2200 lbs. of garnet abrasive and setup of 12 seats of standalone controller software on facility PCs. The machine start-up includes assembly, leveling, and initial operation training, along with four days of onsite training for up to five students covering programming, operation, maintenance, and first pump rebuild.
