Warping Capstan 2 Repairs

Background
The Norfolk Naval Shipyard (NNSY) is issuing this contract to provide necessary repairs and testing for the No. 2 Warping Capstan, which includes the removal, overhaul, and reinstallation of the Rexnord Style 86,600 electric disc brake.

The goal of this contract is to ensure the capstan operates safely and effectively by conducting thorough testing procedures.

Work Details
The contractor is required to provide all materials and equipment necessary for the following tasks:
1. Remove, overhaul, and reinstall the Rexnord Style 86,600 electric disc brake.
2. Conduct Torsion Testing: Perform a torsion test for at least 10 minutes in both clockwise and counterclockwise directions at 150% of normal line pull (30,000 lbs).
3. Conduct No Load Testing: Perform no load tests at slow speed (15 mins each direction) and high speed (15 mins each direction) to check for abnormal heat, wear, or noise in sub-components.
4. Conduct Rated Load Testing: Assemble calculated weights and perform rated load tests at slow and high speeds (15 mins each direction) to verify that the capstan meets specified load requirements.
5. Submit all final test results to NNSY Code 263 & Contracting Office Representative as per Standard Item 009-01.
6. Restore the Capstan to normal operating condition after testing.

Period of Performance
The anticipated period of performance for this contract is from February 5, 2025, through July 30, 2025.

Place of Performance
The work will be performed at Norfolk Naval Shipyard located in Portsmouth, VA.
