WA NP OLYM 115(1), Repair Storm Damage on Mora Road   3

Background
The project, titled WA NP OLYM 115(1), involves repairing storm damage on Mora Road located in Clallam County, Washington, within Olympic National Park and on Quileute Tribe lands.

The purpose of this contract is to restore motorized traffic access to ONP and Quileute Tribal resources following significant roadway washouts caused by storms in 2019. The project aims to implement best management practices (BMPs) to ensure compliance with water quality standards during construction activities over waters of the state, including wetlands.

Work Details
The construction tasks include:
- Installation of a multiple log deflector and revetment structure to stabilize the roadway embankment, train the Quillayute River away from Mora Road, and improve fish habitat by adding wood to the system.
- Implementation of fish exclusion measures (seining, netting, electrofishing) prior to dewatering.
- Installation and maintenance of a water diversion in the Quillayute River during the in-water work period from July 15 to February 15.
- Sediment monitoring and implementation of Soil Erosion and Sediment Control BMPs.
- Mobilization and demobilization activities including site preparation, bringing materials on-site, and breakdown post-construction.
- Construction of a multiple log structure involving installation of rip-rap and large woody debris, rebuilding and paving the subgrade surface, along with signage and striping.

Equipment used will include backhoes, dump trucks, excavators, generators, graders, pavers, rollers, pumps, and chainsaws.

Embankment work within the Quillayute River channel will involve placing additional plantings and coarse woody debris for native vegetation establishment.
