Background
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Seattle District, requires the replacement of the CJD Excitation Units 1-16 at Chief Joseph Dam. The scope of work for this contract consists of the Contractor furnishing all supervision, engineering, labor, materials, and equipment to perform various tasks such as design, preparation of drawings, manufacture, shop testing, delivery, removal and installation of excitation systems, refurbishment of collector rings, replacement of collector ring brushes and brush holder springs, installation of shaft grounding brushes, model validation tests and preparation of test report suitable for use by the Western Electricity Coordinating Council (WECC).

Work Details
The tasks to be completed under the contract include designing, preparing drawings and data, manufacturing, shop testing, delivering 16 complete ABB digital static excitation systems for the Chief Joseph Power Plant. This also involves removing 16 existing excitation systems including cabinets and associated equipment as specified. Additionally, it includes installing and commissioning sixteen excitation systems at Chief Joseph Power Plant, refurbishing collector rings and the existing spare collector ring set, replacing collector ring brushes and brush holder springs, installing shaft grounding brushes, conducting equipment model validation tests and preparing a test report suitable for use by the Western Electricity Coordinating Council (WECC). There is also an optional task to replace up to four collector rings.
