VMware Virtualization Subscription Licenses & Software Support

Background
The Army Contracting Command – Rock Island (ACC-RI) is issuing a justification and approval for other than full and open competition to obtain VMware virtualization subscription licenses and software support. This action is in conjunction with the Headquarters, Department of Army (HQDA) Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO). The goal is to establish an Army Enterprise License Agreement (ELA) with Carahsoft Technology Corp. for VMware products, which are essential for the Army's IT network operations.

Work Details
The contract will establish an Army ELA for Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) VMware software licenses and technical support. The specific products include:
- VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) Enterprise
- VCF Edge Bundle

These products are necessary for operating data centers and tactical computing environments, supporting the Army's networks. The contract includes:
- Subscription licenses
- Software maintenance support (SNS), which provides 24x7 technical support, software updates, security fixes, and management solutions for virtualized servers and devices.

The components of the VCF bundle include:
- vSphere Enterprise Plus: server virtualization
- vSAN Enterprise: storage virtualization software
- NSX Enterprise Plus: network virtualization
- Aria Suite Enterprise: network management
- SDDC Manager: automated database management.

The scope covers requirements for both the Army and contractors fulfilling Army missions. The Independent Government Estimate (IGE) details estimated quantities for the base ordering period and subsequent periods.
