Virginia Class Submarine Propulsor

This is a Synopsis announcement in accordance with FAR 5.202 in anticipation of a future contract and Basic Ordering Agreement award. The Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) has a requirement to contract for the manufacture, machining and assembly of the fixed portion of the Virginia Class Submarine propulsor required to support construction of FY20-FY24 Virginia Class boats. The anticipated contract will include separately-priced options for FY21-FY24 Virginia Class boats and also a spare for the Virginia Class boats planned in FY23. The total number of anticipated propulsors is (11) if all Options are exercised. The solicitation will be a Multiple-Year contract with a base award for FY20 Virginia Class boats and four Options years. The Navy has determined that the use of other than full and open competition is appropriate to award a contract to BAE Systems Land and Armaments L.P. (BAE), 4800 East River Road, Minneapolis, MN 55421-1498 as the only proven source with the in-depth requisite technical knowledge of the design and the expertise to manufacture and assemble the Virginia Class propulsor in the timeframe necessary to meet the Navy's requirements.
