Vessel Identification System Data Services

Background
The US Coast Guard has a data system for sharing vessel registration and documentation between federal, state, and local law enforcement officials. The US Coast Guard requires contractor support to collect and compile the data and submit to the US Coast Guard for input into the vessel identification system.

Work Details
The Vessel Identification System (VIS) contains vessel descriptive information and ownership data for CG Documented vessels and participating States numbered vessels. The primary purpose of the VIS is to serve as a centralized source of vessel registration and ownership information from participating States and the USCG National Vessel Documentation Center that can be accessed for search and rescue and various law enforcement purposes ranging from homeland security to serving as a means to help deter vessel theft, particularly where vessels are crossing state lines.

The contractor will be responsible for collecting and compiling data from participating states and submitting it to the US Coast Guard for input into the VIS. This includes developing Memorandum of Agreements (MOA) with each state to acquire the required data, tracking data feed requirements, updating data accordingly, and ensuring compliance with MOAs.
