Background
The Hampton VA Medical Center (HAMVAMC) and its affiliated Community-Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) require contracted nonemergent wheelchair transportation services to support over 111,809 veterans in the Hampton Roads area.

The contract aims to provide reliable transportation for veterans needing medical services, ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations. The facility serves a significant number of inpatient admissions and outpatient visits annually, highlighting the critical need for efficient transportation services.

Work Details
The contractor shall provide nonemergent wheelchair transportation services available 24/7, including weekends and holidays. Responsibilities include:
- Providing all necessary vehicles, personnel, management, supplies, equipment, and reporting for the service.
- Transporting veterans with their luggage, medical records, medications, and comfort items at no additional cost.
- Ensuring that all drivers meet qualifications as per federal and state regulations.
- Conducting background checks on personnel equivalent to VA employees.
- Maintaining vehicles in compliance with safety standards and ensuring they are clean and well-maintained.
- Utilizing VA-approved software for scheduling and invoicing transportation requests.
- Responding to transportation requests within specified time frames and ensuring patient welfare during transport.

Period of Performance
The contract period begins on April 1, 2026, and ends on March 31, 2031, with options for renewal.

Services will be performed at various locations including the Hampton VA Medical Center and its affiliated CBOCs across Virginia.
