Description

Purpose: The Durham VA Medical Center (hereafter DURVAHCS, its associated Community-Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs), and affiliated healthcare clinics require contracted non-emergency ambulance transportation services. The contractor shall provide all vehicles, personnel, management, supplies, equipment, and necessary reporting for the provision of Stretcher Transports, Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Life Support (ALS), Critical Care Transport (CCT) services. The contactor shall make these ambulance services available to the VA as needed, 24 hours a day, seven days a week (24/7), including weekends and holidays.

Background
The Durham VA Medical Center (DURVAHCS) and its associated Community-Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) require contracted non-emergency ambulance transportation services.

The goal of this contract is to ensure that the VA has access to necessary ambulance services, including Stretcher Transports, Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Life Support (ALS), and Critical Care Transport (CCT) services available 24/7.

Work Details
The contractor shall provide Emergent and non-emergent Stretcher Transports, BLS, ALS, and CCT Tier 1, 2, and 3 ambulance services as needed.

Services include transporting veterans with VA staff and equipment back to the original pickup location. The contractor may also transport patient luggage, medical records, medication, and comfort items at no additional cost. Contractor personnel must be courteous and professional at all times. EMTs and CCTPs must meet all qualifications specified in the contract and comply with federal, state, and local regulations.

The contractor is responsible for maintaining ambulances in compliance with safety standards and ensuring that all personnel are properly trained and certified. The contractor must also provide a tuberculosis exposure control policy and ensure that personnel are tested for TB according to state guidelines. Vehicles must be clean, well-maintained, and equipped to handle patient transport needs including oxygen storage. The contractor shall have sufficient vehicles to manage up to four simultaneous transportation requests.
