Background
The contract is issued by the Department of Veterans Affairs to provide nonemergency transport services for eligible VA beneficiaries within the Birmingham Veterans Affairs Medical Care System, covering multiple states including Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia.

Work Details
The contractor must provide Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) stretcher transportation, nonemergency ambulance stretcher transportation, and ambulette transportation services. The service is available 24/7, including holidays.

The contractor must supply at least six ALS/BLS ambulances with two being stretcher-bariatric capable and two wheelchair-capable ambulettes. A satellite office in Birmingham and Huntsville, Alabama is required within 60 days of contract award. The contractor must be licensed as an emergency medical provider in Alabama and authorized by the state's Public Service Commission.

Period of Performance
The contract period is from the date of award through one year for a base year, with four option years.

Place of Performance
The services will be performed at various VA facilities across Alabama and other states including Tennessee and Georgia.
