San Diego VA Healthcare System Wheelchair and Hired Car Transport   3

Background
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is seeking a contractor to provide Wheeled and Hired Car Services to Veteran patients of the main VASDHS Medical Center and its participating Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs). The services are required twenty-four (24) hours a day, seven (7) days a week including holidays as requested by the Government. Additionally, the contractor shall provide medical companion escort services for pre and post ambulatory procedures for Veterans who have no social support available. The contract is intended to be a Firm Fixed Price (FFP) contract with a base period of six (6) months and the potential for four (4) 12-month option periods.

Work Details
The contractor is expected to provide wheeled and hired car services as well as medical companion escort services for Veterans. The wheeled and hired car services are required to be available twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week including holidays. The medical companion escort services are specifically for Veterans who have no social support available, and the escort must remain on the premises in the 3S Special Procedure waiting area until the veteran is released. The hours for this service are from 4:00 am to 10:00 pm, excluding holidays as listed by the Government.

Period of Performance
The contract period will be for six (6) months for the base year, with the potential of four (4) 12-month option periods to be exercised at the option of the Government.

Place of Performance
The place of performance will be at San Diego VA Healthcare System, 3350 La Jolla Drive, San Diego, CA 92161.
