Background
The Salem Veterans Affairs Medical Center (SVAMC) provides diagnostic and therapeutic services in medicine, surgery, rehabilitation medicine, psychiatry, and skilled nursing home care. The facility also provides services to Veterans not requiring hospitalization. The contract requires provision of Basic Life Support (BLS) and/or Advanced Life Support (ALS) Ambulance Services for emergent and/or scheduled transport, as well as ALS ambulance services on stand-by on the SVAMC campus during cardiac catheterization procedures.
All services conducted in Virginia must comply with the Virginia Department of Human Resources, Virginia Office of Emergency Medical Services standards.

Work Details
The contractor shall furnish twenty-four (24) hour ambulance service for the beneficiaries of the SVAMC at the specified location. The contract includes definitions of Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Life Support (ALS), Advanced Life Support Transport, Ambulance, and other relevant terms. It also outlines general requirements such as equipment provision, adherence to schedules, reporting of vehicle breakdowns, and performance standards. Additionally, it specifies the requirements for stand-by ALS services.

Period of Performance
The period of performance is from September 15, 2023, to September 14, 2024.
