UTE Look Tower Reroof

Background
The UTE Look Tower Reroof project is issued by the USDA Forest Service, specifically the Intermountain Region. The project aims to restore the historic UTE Tower located on the Ashley National Forest, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The goal of this contract is to ensure that the reroofing work conforms to the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards and Guidelines for the Treatment of Historic Properties.

Work Details
The scope of work includes:
1. Removal and disposal of the existing cedar wood shingle roofing system.
2. Retention of existing plywood sheathing.
3. Removal and reinstallation of lightning protection systems including rods, cables, clamps, fasteners, and appurtenances across the roof.
4. Installation of a multi-width synthetic cedar shingle roofing system as specified in Specification Section 073129, including matching synthetic cedar ridge caps on each ridge.
5. Installation of roofing felt and self-adhering ice shield underlayment over the entire roof, along with flashing (galvanized steel, no sheen, mill finish), synthetic shingles, ridge caps, and all necessary fasteners and accessories.
6. Fabrication and installation of a matching stove pipe sleeved flashing piece to match existing materials and dimensions, including reinstalling salvaged stove pipe with flashing.

Period of Performance
The contract period of performance is from September 1, 2026, to November 30, 2026, totaling 91 days.

Place of Performance
The project will be performed at the UTE Tower located in Daggett County, Utah on the Flaming Gorge Ranger District of the Ashley National Forest.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must meet several requirements including: Small Business Set Aside - Total (SBA), provision of performance and payment bonds within ten calendar days after award, contractor licensing as required for construction work, and adherence to safety qualifications related to working in a remote forest area.
