USP Marion Dog Obedience Training

Background
The United States Penitentiary, Marion, Illinois plans to award a contract for a Dog Obedience Instructor for its Advanced Occupational Training Program. The course is a VT certificate program for qualified inmates at the Medium security facility. The services will include course planning and lesson preparation, classroom instruction in specialized areas of dog obedience, street certification skills, grooming, and other specialized areas to receive animal trainer certification. The contractor is expected to supply crate, leashes, food, medicine, medical attention, and vet care for 15 students.

Work Details
The Dog Obedience class will be taught in the housing unit recreation yard at the United States Penitentiary medium security facility in Marion, Illinois. Each session is defined as three hours in length. It is estimated the contractor will conduct four to five sessions per week initially and then taper to two or three sessions per week. The total number of hours shall not exceed 39 hours per week. The program plans to schedule one session per day, four to five days a week and taper to two to three days per week between the hours of 8:00 A.M. - 11:00 A.M. or 1:00 P.M. - 3:00 P.M., Monday through Friday, excluding all federal holidays.

Period of Performance
The contract period is from the date of award through March 31, 2024.

Place of Performance
The contract will be performed at the United States Penitentiary medium security facility in Marion, Illinois.
