USNS GUAM Operation and Maintenance   2

Background
The Military Sealift Command has a requirement for the operation and maintenance of the USNS GUAM. The Contractor shall operate and maintain the vessel to support the assigned missions. The vessel shall be operated in a professional manner and maintained in a good operable condition, and shall be mission-ready at all times. The Contractor shall operate the vessel and related systems and equipment in accordance with all relevant laws, terms of this contract, United States Coast Guard (USCG) and American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) rules and regulations that would apply as if it is owned by a non-government entity.

Work Details
The ship shall be operated in a professional manner, maintained in a good operable condition, and be mission-ready at all times (excluding scheduled maintenance, repair, and overhaul periods). The Contractor shall operate the ship and related ship systems and equipment in accordance with all relevant laws, terms of this contract, United States Coast Guard (USCG), and American Bureau of Ships (ABS) rules and regulations that would apply as if it is owned by a non-government entity. Additionally, the Contractor shall obtain and maintain various certificates listed in Section C-1.1.1.b.

Period of Performance
The contract performance period includes multiple options such as Base Period, Option 1, Option 2, Option 3, Option 4 with varying durations ranging from 365 days to 366 days.

Place of Performance
The USNS GUAM is anticipated to be operating within the Far East area of operations at the time of contract award and will continue to operate within Far East Area of Operations throughout the contract period. The vessel is presently hubbed in Okinawa, Japan, and operates primarily in and between Japan and Korea.
