Background
The solicitation is issued for the USNS ARCTIC Regular Overhaul and Dry Docking scheduled for January 2022. The contract aims to ensure the vessel's anchoring system is thoroughly examined, painted, and tested to meet operational standards.

Work Details
The contractor is required to inspect, paint, and test the anchoring system including chains, chain lockers, hawse pipes, and related gear. Tasks include coordinating with ship’s force for equipment lockout/tagout procedures; removing access covers from chain lockers; cleaning and certifying spaces as gas-free; examining bitter end connections; temporarily removing anchors and chains for inspection; gauging chain links; examining anchors for defects; pressure washing chain locker interiors; inspecting anchor windlass components; performing surface preparation using high-pressure water wash and abrasive blasting; applying coatings following manufacturer’s guidelines; marking anchor chains with specific color codes for identification; conducting functional tests of the anchoring system with ship’s crew assistance; submitting condition reports and gauging results in PDF format to OMT REP and ABS Surveyor.
