Background
The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum is seeking a contractor to provide Video Production Services. The museum wants to create an original short film based on the award-winning exhibition, Remember the Children: Daniel’s Story. The exhibition tells the story of one family’s experiences during the Holocaust from the perspective of a boy growing up in Nazi Germany. It is the most-visited exhibition at the Museum after the permanent exhibition and is created for children aged 8–11 years old, but visitors of all ages report that it helps them understand the history of the Holocaust.

The museum offers extensive educational resources for use in middle and high school classrooms and has previously created an animated series that is popular with teachers. An animated version of Daniel’s Story will allow the Museum to fill in this resource gap for teachers and allow a larger audience to experience it without having to visit the Museum.

Work Details
The contractor will complete an animated video that provides an age-appropriate introduction to the history of the Holocaust for audiences ages 8–11 years old. The video should be an original work of animation, adapted from the original Daniel’s Story script, visually compelling for children but able to appeal to audiences of all ages, developmentally appropriate for children with no graphic imagery, and in a file format appropriate for use in a variety of digital contexts.

The work will involve phases such as discovery and research, storyboarding and scriptwriting, illustration development, video production, and supplemental assets. The museum will provide a copy of the exhibition script as well as descriptions of the visitor experience and how the story unfolds within a physical space. The museum will also assign a dedicated project owner and team members who will work with the vendor to develop storyboard, script, and visual style.

Period of Performance
The term of any resultant contract will be one year, anticipated to start on or about July 22, 2024. The museum shall retain the option to renew the contract on an annual basis by prior written notice for up to four additional one-year terms.
