USAID/Ghana Teaching and Learning Materials (TLM’s) and Classroom Furniture activity

Background
The United States Agency for International Development, Ghana Mission (USAID/Ghana) is conducting market research and seeking comments only from local entities on the attached Activity Description for its anticipated USAID/Ghana Teaching and Learning Materials (TLM’s) and Classroom Furniture activity. The proposed activity seeks to complement the ongoing USAID/Ghana Strengthening Accountability in Ghana’s Education Systems (SAGES) Systems Strengthening Activity and improve learning outcomes and learning environment in Ghana’s primary schools by increasing access to quality teaching and learning materials and classroom furniture.

Work Details
The proposed activity will provide books, writing materials, desks, and other classroom furniture to children in kindergarten to primary grades 1-4 in selected vulnerable districts in all regions of Ghana. It aims to improve access to quality teaching and learning materials while contributing toward an improved learning environment. The activity will coordinate with the Ministry of Education, Ghana Education Service, and other organizations to avoid duplication of effort. The RFI includes specific technical questions related to challenges facing teachers and students in accessing teaching and learning materials, the impact of classroom furniture on the learning environment, distribution challenges, collaboration opportunities with ongoing activities, approaches for promoting inclusive provision of materials, among others.

Period of Performance
The period of performance for this short-term activity is 18 months.

Place of Performance
The implementing partner will implement this activity in the Zone of Influence (ZOI) in northern Ghana plus vulnerable districts in all the other regions.
