Description

The General Services Administration (GSA), on behalf of the United States Air Force (USAF), is conducting market research to procure Microsoft SQL Server 2019 licenses for Joint Base San Antonio Randolph/Lackland. This acquisition aims to support the 502d Communication Squadron's core services, which include a variety of critical server functions such as application servers, backup servers, and web servers. The procurement is essential for maintaining seamless operations and ensuring continued support for various mission partners, including AETC, 344 TRS, 90 COS, AFCEC, AFLCMC, BATG, DLI-ELC, JIOWC, and JPPSO.

The current database services are operating on software that has reached its mainstream end date as of July 2021 and will reach its extended end date by July 2026. Upgrading to SQL Server 2019 is necessary to ensure that these services continue to receive security updates and support from Microsoft. This upgrade is crucial not only for maintaining operational efficiency but also for safeguarding sensitive data managed by the base's database services.

Failure to secure funding and acquire these licenses would leave the base's SQL services unsupported and at risk of becoming obsolete. Without this upgrade, mission partners relying on database services for accessing vital records or organizational applications would face significant operational risks due to an inability to update features or apply necessary security patches. Therefore, procuring these licenses is a strategic priority to maintain robust IT infrastructure at Joint Base San Antonio.

The contractor selected through this solicitation will be responsible for delivering and providing the specified software licenses for use on both SIPRNet and NIPRNet environments at JBSA Lackland/Randolph. They must also supply documentation showing subscriptions and warranty support details to both the Project Manager (PM) and Contracting Officer. The List of Materials includes specific part numbers and quantities required under this contract.
