Description

On behalf of the United States Air Force (USAF), the General Services Administration (GSA) is conducting market research to identify capable vendors for a critical infrastructure project at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida. The primary goal of this initiative is to enhance the network operations within Building 351, Suite 500 by installing new fiber LAN drops. This project aims to modernize and improve the existing network infrastructure, ensuring robust and reliable connectivity essential for mission-critical operations.

The scope of work involves the installation of 62 new fiber LAN drops in Suite 500. This installation will support enhanced network operations by providing a more reliable and higher-capacity network backbone. Following the successful installation, acceptance, and activation of this new fiber infrastructure, existing CAT5/CAT6 cabling in designated areas will be decommissioned and retracted back to their respective patch panels. This upgrade is expected to significantly improve data transmission speeds and overall network performance.

The contractor selected for this project will be responsible for several specific tasks as outlined in the Performance Work Statement (PWS). These tasks include installing a 4 RU Fiber Optic Distribution Panel (FODP) in an existing floor rack on the fifth floor's main communication room. Additionally, power requirements necessitate installing NEMA-rated dedicated receptacles: one NEMA 5-20R quad receptacle, one NEMA L5-30R receptacle, and one NEMA L6-30R receptacle. Proper grounding and bonding of existing cabinets, racks, cable trays, etc., to a grounding busbar are also required if needed.

Moreover, contractors must install a total of 31 four-strand green OM3 MM Plenum fiber optic cables or MIC indoor cables. These cables must be terminated in cabinet/rack-mounted patch panels using LC type connectors at both ends ensuring seamless integration with current systems while providing future scalability options. This comprehensive approach ensures that Eglin AFB's networking capabilities remain state-of-the-art and capable of supporting evolving technological demands.
