USAF - Aircraft Sun Shade Maintenance, Holloman AFB, NM - MRAS

The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA), on behalf of the United States Air Force (USAF), is conducting market research to identify capabilities related to the sustainment of aircraft sun shades at Holloman Air Force Base in New Mexico. The goal of this endeavor is to ensure that aircraft sun shades are maintained in a safe and reliable condition, in accordance with Air Force Instruction 21-101, which governs Aircraft and Equipment Maintenance Management. This initiative underscores the importance of maintaining functional and secure facilities that protect valuable military assets from environmental factors.

The scope of work involves comprehensive maintenance services for existing aircraft sun shades. Contractors are expected to provide all necessary labor, equipment, and personnel to perform scheduled inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs as needed. The tasks include maintaining the structural integrity of the sun shades, addressing fabric issues where applicable, ensuring lighting and electrical systems are operational, mitigating bird nesting issues, providing lightning protection, maintaining obstruction lighting and safety reflective devices, as well as ensuring fall protection measures are in place. Furthermore, contractors must document all inspection findings and maintenance activities thoroughly.

Specific responsibilities include inspecting for structural weaknesses or defects such as corrosion or improper installation; documenting any signs of damage or failure; developing a Preventative Maintenance Plan (PMP); responding promptly to requests from the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR); managing site-specific problems; performing corrective actions based on priority; notifying significant incidents within specified timeframes; and complying with all base regulations. The contractor is also required to maintain detailed maintenance documentation using templates provided by the government.

This project not only aims to uphold safety standards but also enhances operational readiness by ensuring that infrastructure supporting USAF operations remains robust against environmental challenges.
