US Navy Submarine EDG Renewal

Background
The Naval Surface Warfare Center - Philadelphia Division (NSWCPD) is responsible for research, development, test and evaluation, engineering, and fleet support for the Navy’s ships and submarines. This contract pertains to the USS Florida (SSGN 728) Emergency Diesel Generator (EDG) repair, which is necessary due to a failed lower main bearing discovered during a recent inspection. The goal of this contract is to restore the EDG to Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) specifications.

Work Details
The Contractor shall inspect, repair, and reassemble the SSGN 728 EDG as per the requirements outlined in the SOW. Key tasks include: engine disassembly, inspection and repair of engine block, component replacement, engine reassembly, lube oil system flush, and engine retest. Specific actions include removing various components such as crankshaft flexible coupling, exhaust elbows, generator pressure regulating valve, and others; inspecting and repairing threaded holes and studs; performing an engine flush; and conducting operational retests to ensure cylinders are balanced within specifications.

The Contractor must also develop a project plan with measurable milestones and maintain a Process Control Procedure (PCP) that meets specified requirements.

Period of Performance
The period of performance for this Task Order is from contract award until December 1, 2025. The estimated start of work is May 2025.

Place of Performance
The work will be performed at Trident Refit Facility King’s Bay (TRF-KB) and Contractor’s facilities.
