FEDERAL AVIATION ADMINISTRATION

AIRPORTS UNMANNED AIRCRAFT SYSTEMS (UAS) RESEARCH_SIR 6925M15-21-R-00039

The Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) Office of Airports' Airport Technology Research and Development Branch (ATR) supports the FAA's mission by conducting the necessary research and development required to enhance the safety of operations at our nation's airports, to ensure the adequacy of engineering specifications and standards in all areas of the airport systems, and where necessary, develop data to support new standards. The research conducted by ATR is highly visible and has a high impact to airport safety.

The Contractor will be responsible for conducting and supporting a wide variety of airport centric UAS research efforts comprising of tests, evaluations, and studies that support an efficient, productive, and cost-effective National Airspace System (NAS). These efforts will include activities related testing and evaluating UAS/autonomous technologies for airports.

The scope of the contract includes the following task areas:

  • Task Area 1: UAS Detection and Mitigation Technologies/Systems
  • Task Area 2: UAS Airport Applications
