Background
The Arlington National Cemetery (ANC) is seeking a contractor to provide comprehensive tree and shrub maintenance services. The goal of this contract is to maintain the esteemed grounds of ANC and the United States Soldier’s and Airmen’s Home National Cemetery (USSAHNC), ensuring aesthetically pleasing turf and care for burial sections and memorial sites to honor those who have served the nation.

Work Details
The contractor shall provide all labor, equipment, materials, and supervision necessary to perform the following tasks:

- Prune approximately 2,500 trees;
- Remove approximately 400 trees;
- Prune between 11,000 and 16,000 linear feet of shrubs and hedges;
- Prune trees lining the Ceremonial Mall and Memorial Avenue;
- Prune wisteria vines at the James Tanner Amphitheater;
- Provide emergency support;
- Install, inspect, and repair cabling and lightning protection systems;
- Perform approximately 3,000 hours of additional ground pruning tasks annually.

Tree and shrub maintenance includes air-spading, root pruning, watering small trees, watering large trees, watering shrubs, spraying trees and shrubs with pesticides or other products, applying soil injections of fertilizers, pesticides, and other products. The contractor shall plant up to 310 trees with a warranty for one year post-planting acceptance and provide all necessary plant care during that time. Additionally, the contractor shall transplant up to 10 trees annually within ANC or at USSAHNC.
