Treasury IRS - ZPro Lease Lic Linux - MRAS

The Department of the Treasury, through the General Services Administration (GSA), is conducting market research to support the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) in its ongoing efforts to enhance and streamline its IT infrastructure. The IRS operates several customer service offices and computer processing centers across the United States, which are tasked with processing millions of tax returns each year. To efficiently manage this workload, the IRS leverages advanced software solutions. Currently, there is a need for continued use and support of the Velocity zPRO Enterprise Software Solution to ensure optimal performance of Linux systems on IBM Z platforms.

The IRS Information Technology organization requires robust enterprise-level software that can handle provisioning, management, and monitoring tasks for Linux environments on Z systems. The Velocity zPRO solution offers automated capabilities that minimize reliance on manual processes, thereby improving system performance and operational efficiency. This software is crucial for supporting IRS modernization initiatives such as Linux migration efforts and high-availability system deployments. It is already deployed in key IRS computing centers including those in Martinsburg and Memphis.

The scope of work involves providing annual enterprise licensing, maintenance, and support services for the Velocity zPRO software solution. This includes ensuring uninterrupted operation of Linux provisioning capabilities across various enterprise environments within the IRS. The contractor will be responsible for supplying an enterprise license that permits usage across an unlimited number of Central Electronic Complexes (CECs) and Integrated Facilities for Linux (IFLs). Additionally, they must deliver technical support along with regular updates, patches, and new releases compatible with both current and future system environments.

Technical requirements stipulate that the Velocity zPRO solution must offer extensive automation features for provisioning and managing Linux environments on IBM Z systems while maintaining compatibility with existing IRS infrastructure. The solution should provide centralized management through a user-friendly browser-based interface as well as comprehensive system monitoring tools. By fulfilling these requirements, the contractor will help maintain operational stability and security within critical IRS technological frameworks.
