Treasury Fire Place Renovation

Background
The Department of the Treasury is issuing this Request for Proposal (RFP) for a firm fixed price construction contract focused on the renovation of the Main Treasury Secretary's Fireplace.

The goal is to ensure the fireplace is functional and aesthetically pleasing, aligning with the agency's mission to maintain and preserve its facilities.

Work Details
The contractor shall provide all labor, tools, equipment, management, supplies, and any other items necessary to complete the following tasks:

1. Set Up & Final Clean:
a. Establish a designated staging area (10 x 10) in front of the fireplace and clear it of all furniture.
b. Provide temporary protection for surrounding areas as necessary.
c. Upon completion, confirm with Treasury that all work areas are finished and clean.

2. Crossover & Heavy Wall Liner Installation:
a. Reline firebox flue with a heavy wall UL 7" x 11" x 40' stainless steel liner with a lifetime warranty.
b. Remove existing flue tiles and throat damper; insulate flue with UL listed insulation.
c. Install new top tile, parge entire smoke chamber, and install new top closing damper system.
d. Remove existing flue system and debris; build containment around the fireplace during this process to protect surrounding areas.
e. Resurface smoke chamber by prepping masonry and applying a 1-inch thick layer throughout; provide hands-on demonstration of new system operation after installation.
f. Temporarily remove existing shroud cover for access to flue system; inspect shroud for structural stability before reattachment; install an animal guard spark arrestor near shroud termination.

Period of Performance
The contract will be performed over a period of one year (12 months) from the date of award.

This opportunity appears to have a confirmed incumbent and/or closely related prior contract, with Constructure identified under Treasury’s small project IDIQ (2032H322D00004) valued at $4,223,398 (06/29/22–06/28/27). While the prior scope described is broader than a fireplace renovation, it includes work performed at the Main Treasury and other Treasury facilities and covers building construction and repair activities such as plaster repair and painting and installation of heavy screens—work that aligns with the type of on-site renovation, masonry/surface preparation, and protective containment elements required for the fireplace flue relining and smoke chamber resurfacing.
