TREAS - Verastream Bridge Integrator Maintenance Support - MRAS

The Department of the Treasury, in collaboration with the General Services Administration (GSA), is conducting market research to support the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) in maintaining and enhancing its tax processing capabilities. As part of this initiative, GSA has issued a Request for Information (RFI) to gather insights from potential vendors regarding the renewal of maintenance and support services for Verastream Bridge Integrator (VBI). This effort is crucial for ensuring that the IRS can efficiently manage its increasing tax processing workload through enhanced technological solutions.

The IRS employs Verastream Bridge Integrator as a critical communication tool that facilitates interaction between client systems and existing COBOL applications on IBM mainframes. VBI serves as an interface that allows developers to connect their programs with mainframe components, enabling seamless data exchange. The software's licensing model is based on the number of instances running on the mainframe rather than processor count, allowing flexibility in deployment across multiple regions. Currently, VBI operates within two production regions and four test regions at the IRS, supporting essential functions within their Automated Collection System (ACS).

Within this framework, the Statement of Work (SOW) outlines objectives to renew maintenance and support services for VBI. The ACS is a multi-tiered application that integrates with other systems like Account Management Services (AMS) and Integrated Data Retrieval System (IDRS). Through VBI, these systems are web-enabled into a unified interface that enhances user experience for ACS operators while managing account assignments efficiently. The software also supports Java capabilities and aligns with IRS enterprise architecture standards to ensure optimal performance.

Technical requirements specified in the SOW include providing comprehensive software maintenance support. This encompasses ensuring continuity of operations by addressing any technical issues promptly and maintaining system integrity across all operational regions.
