Background
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), specifically the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), is seeking to demolish and remove a trailer located at the National Centers for Animal Health (NCAH) Campus in Ames, Iowa. The previous contractor defaulted on the project, leaving the trailer's removal incomplete. This contract aims to fully remove the structure and restore the site to its original condition.

Work Details
The contractor is responsible for providing all necessary expertise, labor, supervision, services, equipment, tools, supplies, materials, permits, licenses, transportation, disposal costs, and incidentals required to demolish and dispose of the 530 Trailer from the USDA Campus. Key tasks include:
- Complete demolition and removal of the existing trailer structure including the concrete pad.
- Excavation of water and sanitary sewer lines as indicated in attached drawings to determine their status. If active lines are found, they must be cut and capped at specified locations; abandoned lines must be removed and disposed of.
- Fill excavated areas with clean soil, compacted and leveled to match existing grassy areas.
- Repair grounds according to USDA rules and IADOT specifications 2601 for seeding areas with specific grass seed mixtures totaling 184 lbs. per acre.
- Apply starter fertilizer with a minimum guaranteed analysis of 6-24-24 or an approved alternative before seeding.
- Remove all rocks and debris from disturbed areas prior to seeding.
- Provide water and equipment necessary for maintaining soil moisture for 21 days post-seeding.
- Daily removal of debris or weekly if volume is high to ensure safety.

Period of Performance
The contract work must commence within 10 calendar days after receiving notice to proceed and is expected to be completed within 60 days after that notice.

The work will be performed at the USDA APHIS National Centers for Animal Health located at 1920 Dayton Avenue, Ames, IA 50010.
