Background
The Marine Corps Systems Command (MARCORSYSCOM) is conducting market research and seeking information regarding available or forthcoming materiel solutions to fill a capability gap for semi-autonomous, robotic human-type targets, referred to as 'Trackless Mobile Infantry Targets (TMIT), for use during combat training. The Marine Corps has a desire to leverage advances in autonomous target technologies, Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning, and other new and innovative technologies and processes to fill this gap.

Work Details
The TMIT capability is currently being satisfied through a Knowledge Based Training Services (KBTS) task order under the PM Training Systems, MAGTF Training Systems Support Contract (M6785421D8076); also known as 'Training as a Service' (TaaS). The current task order provides the required training capabilities across five different Marine Corps Installations and provides a total of nine trailers containing eight targets each; total capability 72 targets. In the future, the Marine Corps intends to fulfill the TMIT capability through a Firm Fixed Price KBTS Single Award Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (SAIDIQ) services contract where the Contractor is responsible for providing and maintaining the full spectrum of TMIT training. The NFE providing the TMIT KBTS capability will be responsible for developing TMIT training concepts, creating or modifying TMIT training scenarios, supporting live-fire and non-live fire training events with TMITs, providing data to training audiences for After Action Reviews (AARs), providing TMIT system operations and support for Marine Corps training, and supporting Marine Corps training with semi-autonomous, human-type, TMITs capable of moving on a training range within established geographic boundaries to ensure safety, and to present shooters with realistic, moving threats on live-fire ranges and training areas used by the Marine Corps.
