Background
The Military Sealift Command is seeking a time charter for a container vessel to be used by the United States Air Force. The vessel is required to be capable of carrying a minimum of 500 20' International Organization for Standardization (ISO) containers of ammunition underdeck and on-deck, for worldwide transportation and prepositioning of cargo, including hazardous cargoes, explosives, ammunition, vehicular, containerized, and general cargoes. The vessel should also be deployable to worldwide locations within 24 hours of notification by the Operational Commander designated by the U.S. Navy.

Work Details
The contract involves the acquisition of a self-sustaining container vessel that meets specific cargo capacity requirements and is capable of deployment to worldwide locations within 24 hours. The vessel is intended for use in worldwide trade for transportation and/or prepositioning of various types of cargo, as well as for military readiness. The anticipated laydays are around 10 May 2024, and the length of the charter will be four years and eleven months. The solicitation will be made available on www.sam.gov on or about 15 September 2023.
