Description

NASA is currently evaluating candidate materials for composite cryotank applications. As part of this
evaluation NASA requires composite coupons are cycled in between room temperature and 302oF
through direct immersion into liquid nitrogen. See the attached SOW and RFQ for further details of the requirement.

Background
NASA is currently evaluating candidate materials for composite cryotank applications. The goal of this contract is to conduct thermal cycling of composite materials to assess their performance under extreme temperature conditions, specifically between room temperature and -302°F through direct immersion into liquid nitrogen.

Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for performing thermal cycling on composite coupons as specified in the attached Statement of Work (SOW). The tasks include:
- Cycling composite coupons between room temperature and -302°F.
- The number of coupons, dimensions, and number of cycles required are as follows:
- Lamina Compression (Abbr. 0C): 5.50 x 0.5 inches, 14 coupons, 50 cycles.
- Lamina Compression (Abbr. UNC): 5.50 x 0.5 inches, 14 coupons, 50 cycles.
- Lamina Compression (Abbr. UNC): 5.50 x 0.5 inches, 10 coupons, 100 cycles.
- Laminate Tension (Abbr. UNT): 10.0 x 1.0 inches, 10 coupons, 100 cycles.
- In-Plane Shear (Abbr. IPS): 10.0 x 1.0 inches, 10 coupons, 100 cycles.
- Tension-Tension Fatigue (Abbr. TTF): 10.0 x 1.0 inches, 10 coupons, 100 cycles.
- NASA will supply machined coupons for the thermal cycling process.

Place of Performance
The work will be performed at Stennis Space Center, MS.
