The National Patient Information Reporting System (NPIRS) Operations & Maintenance

Background
The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), specifically the National Institutes of Health (NIH) through the Information Technology Acquisition and Assessment Center (NITAAC), is seeking to increase the work under an existing task order for the National Patient Information Reporting System (NPIRS) Operations & Maintenance.

This increase is necessary to address unplanned and unexpected needs arising from the Division of Data Management and Analytics (DDMA) and to support critical agency initiatives, particularly in light of ongoing public health crises such as COVID-19.

Work Details
The justification for this action includes:
1. Increasing work for option years one through four to accommodate anticipated tasks and backlog work.
2. Supporting the Division of Epidemiology by maintaining critical architecture, reporting, and analytics support.
3. Ensuring day-to-day operations of the Epidemiology Data Mart (EDM) and maintaining mission-critical reporting for Tribal Epidemiology Centers (TECs).
4. Addressing unplanned data requests from Indian Health Service (IHS) headquarters program offices, service units, and facilities.
5. Providing additional support for various public health initiatives including opioid surveillance, immunization reporting, and other health-related projects that are vital for American Indian and Alaska Native communities.

Period of Performance
The contract is ongoing with a base period starting on March 20, 2023, and ending on January 19, 2024. Option periods extend from January 20, 2024, through January 19, 2028.

Place of Performance
The work will be performed primarily at the Indian Health Service locations as applicable.
